Abstract

The research aims to collect physical data on the shape and lay-out of the remaining train-station buildings built in colonial era, and develop a documentation as basis for planning purposes in future. Train stations located between Purwosari station (Solo) and Lempuyangan station (Jogja) have been chosen, since they are considerably under-utilized so that might affect the maintenance and became a threat to their physical condition, though they are subject to conservation. Analysis comprises data sellection, assessment on their values, policy statement, and draw a systematic conclusion. The research reveals that in general they are still well-maintained. Identification on shape and architectural style shows that stations located at the eastern section up to Klaten are monumental and use steel construction, while the rest are quite simple. There are also typical patterns of Delanggu-Ceper-Klaten stations and Srowot-Brambanan-Kalasan stations, while both Gawok and Maguwa stations are unique. For overall, they are worth to be visited for their interesting architectural style.
