Analisa Pengaruh Penambahan Mg pada Matriks Komposit Aluminium Remelting Piston Berpenguat SiO2 Terhadap Kekuatan Impak dan Struktur Mikro Menggunakan Metode Stir Casting

Abstract


AMC (Aluminium Matrix Composite) is one type of material that has great potential for development and is one way to get superior material. This research is to find out effect of Mg as wettability on Al-SiO2 composite with SiO2 mass fraction of 9%. This research will be added Mg with each variation of 1 %, 1.5 %, 2 % and 2.5 % with the composite manufacturing process using stir casting method.Specimens were tested using an optical microscope and impact charpy testing machine. The value of the highest impact on specimens obtained by the addition of Mg mass fraction of 2.5 %    (0.507 J / mm2) Micro photograph showing the results of SiO2 uniform distribution along with the addition of Mg to the composite.
