Abstract

Abstrak : Finite element method and its applications have emerged in engineering fields because primarily its ability to give approximation result that could use as data references for experiment and for real systems. In this decade the Finite Element Method is important lecture in technical especially in mechanical engineering education. The purpose of this research is developing the adaptive triangulation mesh generation program for input domain of finite element analysis to solve general mechanical engineering problems. Research is conducted in some steps. These are literate study, developing the nodal distribution program, developing the triangulation program and developing the adaptive mesh program. Mesh is adaptive when element densities could be controlled to adjust the gradient variations from the result of finite elements analysis programs. Performance of adaptive mesh could define with minimum angle criterion. This research is conducted to proceed the previous research that have been investigating structured mesh (Development of Adaptive Structured Mesh Generation Programs as an Input Domain for Finite Element Analysis applied in Elasticity and Composite, 2006) The results of this research are nodal distribution, triangulation and adaptive mesh development program in simple manner. In general, outputs of the mesh generation program are nodal coordinates and connectivity. Researcher is developing running segment method to build the polygon triangulation. This method is comparable with Delaunay triangulation method. Nodal distribution is underlined in this research because of its importance to create adaptive mesh by h-method.
