Abstract

The development of urban area causes land-use change, resulting escalation impervious area, the coefficient of surface run-off will increase from 5 to 20 times from existing conditions. These conditions also increase in flood water level and inundation time. The problems are solved with the application method of small-scale storm-water management to control the effects of urban run-off change. The method is Low impact development (LID). In general LID measures are more cost effective and lower in maintenance than conventional of structural storm-water controls. The LID approach are: a) Hydrology as frame work; b) micro management which divide the watershed into small pieces; c) Rainfall water to be controlled from their source; d) Developing simple and soft structure as rainfall retarding structure; and e) developing multifunction area. The approach was developed the methode of LID, as: a) Bioretension; b) infiltration well; c) Buffer area with vegetations as water and pollution absorbser; d) Grass swales; e) Rainwater collection box; f) Infiltration trenches; and g) Permeable pavers. The application of LID can be said success if the peak of flood hydrograph at the urban area which had been developed does not increase.
