Abstract

Urban activity has been increasing significantly mainly in the form of industrial
activity, transportation, also household. Those things are basically very potential in increasing
levels of pollution, both air and sound pollution. While it has been known that plants function
very closely related to human health. In urban planning, utilization of the plants which are
usually shaped city parks, city open space, green belt and so on, often referred to as the lungs
of the city. Green function in the city are now much more known than the books from abroad
or sectoral studies, such as research to know the plants absorption at a particular pollutant. As
for planning a "green" in the city, not yet available guidelines based on local climatic
conditions and pollution. While we still use the guidelines overseas, are planning guidelines
that exist in Indonesia, generally using the percentage of total population or area of land to
the residential area as a basis for determining the open space outside.Given the condition of
the air in cities is getting worse (WHO set of Jakarta as the city's most dusty - Kompas 19
September 2009), it proved necessary to begin to conduct the study in an effort to seek early
input in the preparation of practical guidelines for planning open space outside green in the
city. This study begins with an introduction to the field, which measures the effect of the park to
some air pollutants and climatic influence on the quality of local parks.
