Hubungan Variasi Jenis Pasir Cetak Terhadap Sifat Mekanik Besi Cor Kelabu
Abstract
Abstract : The research is to investigate the correlation between variation types of sandcasting on mechanic characteristic in grey cast iron casting process. The sandcastings that used in this research was consist of green sand (silica sand, bentonite and water combination), molasses sand (combined from silica sand, bentonite and molasses) and also river sand (river Ceper sand, with water addition).
The applied observation methods were conducted by some related testing ,as sand’s permeability testing, impact testing and also hardness testing. As the rsult, the highest sand permeability was obtained by green sand speciment (19,5 cm3/minute). Those three types of sand casting have some impact strength that value about 0,05 J/mm2. The highest bending tension is green sand speciment (128 MN/m2) and the lowest one is molasses speciment (114 MN/m2). Molasses sand speciment has the highest hardness of speciment characteristic (93,8 HRB), and the lowest one is the green sand spesiment( 89,42 HRB). All penhomenon that influenced mechanical properties is suspected by the differences of miccrostructure phase contains.
Keywords : sand casting, permeability, impact strength, bending strength, hardness.
