Abstract

Abstract : The purpose of the research was to obtain effective speed on overhung shaft balancing. The balancing process was done by two-plane balancing method, and the vector analysis used phase different measurement on the vibration respon. The speed used was 600 rpm, 800 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1200 rpm, and 1400 rpm. The data was acquired by measurement vibration amplitude on the bearing, and phase different was obtained from the trigger signal and the vibration signal. The amplitude and phase different was used to determine counter balance mass and its location. The balancing result the was examined on the different spedd to find the effectiveness of the balancing done. The result showed that the balancing process done could reduce the vibration from 48.52 % to 66.76 %. The balancing done closed to critical speed is more effective than that was done far from crtical speed. The balancing above critical speed IV yielded the highest vibration reduction..
