Karaktetrisasi Sifat Mekanik Dan Pembentukan Fasa Presipitat Pada Aluminium Alloy 2024–T81 Akibat Perlakuan Penuaan

Abstract : Aluminum Alloy Al 2024-T81 has been applied widely at otomotif and aerospace industry, because its high strenght and ductility,also have property that could be improved and repaired with aging process. However to obtain best property, aging process requires a correct timesharing. Aluminum alloy Al 2024-T3 will be given artificial aging treatment at ± 210oC temperature,with 5,6,7,and 8 hours various time. The various aging time will cause the various phase transformation that have inflluent at mechanical property characterization. Transformation of phase and its influence to mechanical property Characterization will analyzed using XRD characterization analysis and metallografi, tensile test, and hardness test. From this research known that the microstructure from 5, 6, 7, and 8 hours aging process is α that is alumunium matrix with copper in solid solution, θ’, and θ phase, both is phase wth CuAl2. chemical formula. The highest tensile strength and yield strength owned by specimen with 6 hours aging process,while the highest hardness owned by specimen with 8 hours aging process.
