Abstract


Abstract : The purpose of this research is to create model and prototype of energy saving technologies in ethanol distillation process by using solar thermal energy. In this study the solar collector using solar oil heater technology that works based on the active closed-loop system (indirect heating) with ethylene glycol as working fluid. The data collection time is at 09:00 to 16:00. From the test results are known the intensity of solar radiation 2.89 kWh/m2 and heat that can be absorbed by solar collectors for 1667.6 kJ. and efficiency of solar collector is 12%. Heat was used for ethanol distillation process. From the resulting ethanol distillation process with capacity 0.3 litre/h and 96% content.
