Abstract

This paper depicts the natural processes in experiencing fragment of earthquake and
carrying out the reconstruction stage afterwards. Complexity of issues which have to be dealt
with during the design process up to yielding reconstruction output, psychological as well as
physical, is of interest. Aparts from teoretical factors and rational bases on earthquake
ressistant buildings, inner memory to be a victim of the disaster has been very dominated in
producing reconstruction design for the houses. The design, then, becomes a response to and
expression of the struggle from the earthquake. Spontaneous response to the material
phenomenon of the ruins creates simple touch of construction design but full of imaginary
relief of the trial
