Abstract

Abstract : Joining polypropylene material by friction stir welding is a new development in welding technology. Effect of welding parameter such as rotational tool speed and additional heater to mechanical properties of polypropylene friction stir welding joint was determined. The welding parameters was used in this experiment were 204 ; 356; 602; 1140 rpm and additional heater. As a result of the experiment, it was determined that rotational tool speed 602 rpm with additional heater has highest tensile strength and bending strength value, it is 14,55 MPa and 6,022 MPa. The optimum rotational speed and additional heater cause better stirring proccess, so molten material can spread evenly in welding area. The evenly spreading molten material minimize voids that appear so it is increase the mechanical properties of joint.
