Abstract

ABSTRACT : The purpose of the research is to investigate the optimum compaction of pressured sintering process for HDPE-rubber composite. The raw materials used are HDPE plastic waste of oil bottle and unused tire. These materials were powdered via mechanical grinding manually. The plastic powder size of -60 mesh was selected to be roled for specimen. Pressured sintering process for producing the specimens was done at 120oC for 5 minutes. Parameter observed is the sintering pressure within range of 0,5 to 2 MPa risen 0,5 MPa incrementally. Specimen testing involved density, bending strength and izot impact strength. All of testing was conducted on ASTM standard testing. The result reveals that adding sintering pressured will increase density, flextural and impact strengths of about 14%, 52% and 17% respectively. The significant increasing properties occurs when the compaction reach to the optimum value, that is 1,5 MPa.
