Pengaruh Waktu Pemaparan Cuaca (Weathering) Terhadap Karakteristik Mekanik Komposit Hdpe – Sampah Organik
Abstract
Abstract : This research aimed to determine the effect of weathering exposure time on mechanical characteristics which include bending strength, compression shear strength, and the impact strength of HDPE-organic waste composites. The materials use in this research were HDPE and organic waste. The composite was made by using the pressured sintering method with pressure 8,7 kPa, temperature 120º C, sintering time 10 minutes, volume fraction of HDPE is 0,3 and organic waste is 0,7. Speciment was directly exposed to weather with variations in 0 month (no treatment), 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months (ASTM D1435). Testing the bending strength and compression shear strength refers to ASTM D1037. The surface of bending fracture was observed by using Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM). Weathering exposure for 3 months has not effect on bending strength and compression shear strength, this is causes the bond between HDPE and organic waste not yet demage during 3 months exposure.
